  • What are the rules on day trading in a futures account?

Posted by admin on April 17th, 2010 and filed under day trading | 1 Comment »

What are the rules on day trading in a futures account? I understand that I have to have a minimum of 25,000 dollars in my account if I am a pattern day trader in a stock account. Does this same rule apply for a futures account?

Absolutely not. Some brokerages have minimums as little as 500 to trade an S&P emini.
Check out the websites at Advanced Futures or Velocity futures. Their miniumums are low.
I am making no recommendations, however, just answering your question.
There is definitely NO huge pattern type day trader rule in the futures industry.
And the reason is, you don’t own a contract, so you don’t own anything unless you take delivery. You are simply putting up good-faith money. (But since you are "buying" or "selling" on margin, you WILL have to put up more money if your position goes against you and you want to keep holding it.)

What is the best book to teach me about trading stocks?

Posted by admin on April 15th, 2010 and filed under trading stocks | 4 Comments »

I am absolutely NOT looking for a stupid book that just tells me to buy low and sell high. I want to be able to analyze stocks that are underpriced and overpriced. The book can even have a lot of mathamatics in it if that is what is necessary in order to determine that. I do have very little experience when it comes to trading stocks, but would like to have a book that goes in a lot more detail. I would want to make a career out of this.

check out jim cramer. you can see him on cnbc’s "mad money" or online. he’s written a couple of good books on investing. he’ll give you some very practical advice on investing based on his decades of experience. personally, he’s been spot on in terms of his overall read of the markets.

Is there a stock trading company which lets you sell and settle your cash profit the same day?

Posted by admin on April 15th, 2010 and filed under stock trading | 3 Comments »

I’m with ameritrade and when I sell stocks, they make you wait three days until the cash settles, then you can use the profit to buy stocks again. Is there any stock trading company (etrade, scotttrade, charles schwab, fxcm) that doesn’t do that?

Some years ago, I occasionally sold stock and took the proceeds the NEXT day. When I needed cash right away, I would sell stock which is held in a cash account at the local office of a large full service broker. I do not know if there is a mechanism to do so in my discount brokerage account. (I will have to check that out for my own knowledge!)

The order is to ‘SELL FOR CASH’.

Lets say you sell 100 shares of XYZ Corp at market price for cash, and the bid is $20 per share. You pay the normal commission, plus the broker can buy the stock from you for a discount of 1/8 or 1/4 per share, depending upon how actively the stock is traded. So, your confirmation may reflect a sale price of only $19.75 per share. He can cut you a check right away.

As I say, I haven’t done this for some years, so you should stop in and ask at a large brokerage to see if that is still permitted.

Where & How can i download Forex trading software i.e Fx (forex, stock, currency)software online ?

Posted by admin on April 15th, 2010 and filed under fx trading | 2 Comments »

i want to know which site allows to download the Fx trading software, foreign Currency Exchange Software, Stock Trading Software, Online currency trading software, free Forex Strategy Builder software, forex trading software.
I need to know few more good, popular & best Forex software, trading software and from where i can Download the software instantly and begin using it.

Downloading free system are just for demo account. You cannot actually trade there. I feel this is not a correct step of starting trading. software doesn’t help in earning good returns.Have a good understanding of the function of the market in general and those that keep the market operational. Understand, not only the market you are trading in, put be aware of all the products and services that you can upon if needed. Understand the basics of trading such as never trade against the trend, limit any & all loses by using stop orders and lock in any and all gains with sliding stops. First, you should know that Forex is not that easy. Do not believe those who may say it is!

Now, there are some good robots that MAY help you. Some are scam. Others are for real.

Simply put, a Forex robot is a program that attempts to take the guess work out of trading currencies. Currently there is a lot of information floating around the internet about these products. Like any other tool, it needs to be used properly in order to be most effective.

Like I hinted, in order to use this tool the right way you need to understand a little bit about how it works and where it is best applied.

A Forex robot is a computer or computer program that monitors currencies and does calculations to figure out the best time to buy and sell. These programs help to take some of the guess work out of buying and selling and can help a trader to identify currencies that meet certain criteria, or when certain currencies perform in certain a way. Most of the selling points of Forex robots state that you can simply set them and watch the cash come pouring in. While in some cases this may work, in most cases you are going to need to carefully monitor the program and make sure that it is adjusting to trends in the market. While they can be very profitable they may require a certain amount of intervention to be run effectively. Used properly, and if you have the patience to get to know the programs, they become a powerful tool.

For this automatic approach, forex auto pilot turbo has worked wonders for me: http://fapturboxreview.blogspot.com/ . It offers, among other features, high spread protection system and automated risk scaling. They say "95% winner". Well, only the bottom line counts. In this regard, it has really delivered for me.

I had been watching the forex robot market for months, waiting for the right software to come out. I believe I have found a great one.

Really, get the fundamentals first. Then get your own system and test it offline (do that for weeks, if not months, until your system is well tested), whether you use a robot or not. It really takes a few months – a lot of patience and resilience. But if you are made for it, it is worth it. Read about the psychology of trading (never to underestimate). And then you should be fine.

Day Trading Forex possible to make a living?

Posted by admin on April 15th, 2010 and filed under trading for living | 8 Comments »

    Hey,

Are there people in the world who day trade forex for a living? I’ve read so many articles bashing day trading as gambling and impossible to make money, but I also read some forex trader interview who just trade a few hours a day and make a good living. Is it true?
    Anyone has experience?

I trade FX as well as stocks and I used to be a professional trader.

Succesful trading really has to do with emotional control and dscipline because its based on odds. The odds are usually not higher than 55:45 in your favor so expect to lose fairly often. It is extremely nerve wracking and it takes lots of money you can AFFORD to lose to do succesfully as a professional. Most likely at least 25K. It also takes years to learn and often with huge losses. You make the big money in usually only 20% of the time, the rest try not to get torn up in the markets. Its a good job for adrenaline junkies but its not for everyone.

Yes people say 90% of people fail to make it, however so do 90% of doctors and lawyers. Its about how much you want it and how hard you wanna work at it. But it most definitely IS possible.

What is your opinion about this affair story (long text)?

Posted by admin on April 15th, 2010 and filed under trading for a living elder | 12 Comments »

No "just came for the 2 points" answers, please.
Only serious advice will be appreciated.

    Here goes the story.

The foreign guy impressed an Asian woman to the point she dreamed of marrying him, but he never told her he had a girlfriend in his home country. The woman knew about the girlfriend when it was "too late" (when the wedding was decided).

By then, the guy had listened from her lots of hidden sufferings she had not been able to express openly to anyone else, and in some sense helped her to overcome those feelings from the past. He did this sincerely, like a friend or an elder brother (though she was 5 years older than him).

They had had sexual relations once in a period of about one year. He never asked her to become his (second) girlfriend or a lover. He had no intention to hurt, but didn’t know how to tell her about his girlfriend.

Knowing about the girlfriend, or the fiancee at that time, was a total shock. She changed her job to avoid seeing him, but when she needed someone to talk about her feelings or problems, she ended calling the guy.

For the following 5+ years, the story became quite complicated, with a lot of ups and downs. At some point of time, the guy (already married and with a child) gave her a proposal, but kind of ultimatum: Let’s make a stable, peaceful relationship or let’s finish all communication. She took the first alternative, and they worked in the trade-off for several months.

It did not work. The fact that this guy had married other woman was a wound too deep for her to heal. The guy told her he believed it will never work, but she was reluctant to cut all communication with him.

The guy left the country with his family, without having clearly defined the relation with the other woman. She sent him an email asking technical questions (about a laptop), and he did the support part but also tried again to define what would be the future (if any) of the relation. He was already desperate about it, and after some interchange of mails and calls he sent an email that, she said, hurt her again.

It was hard specially because she had been putting lot of efforts in "remaking her world," adapting herself to the idea of living without having the guy close, in some sense. She had already gotten some peace of mind.

The guy felt bad for her after that, but he is already mad about the situation, contrasting with her. He thinks there is no good future for it, and he wants to end it.

You are having problems with letting go because you became too emotionally dependent on him. He was your source of comfort and advice. I feel he was sincere with his concern over helping you but in the end found it too difficult to continue as you wanted more from him. He knew it was wrong to continue because he was already married. You also knew it was wrong to continue because he was married and it was difficult for you to be second choice. He was right in ending it. Now what you need to do is work on not being so dependent on him for emotional support. Find other people and resources to fill that void. For now you are hurt, but in the long run you will one day see how it is a much better thing for you to not remain involved with a man who will never be available to you. Good luck to you!

Anyone looking to trade living areas?

Posted by admin on April 15th, 2010 and filed under trading for a living | 1 Comment »

I live in Warren, MI. I am looking to move up north, Gaylord, Reed City, Hubberstand. Would even consider Muskegon area also. I am willing to trade my 1090 square foot home with full basement, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, privacy fenced back yard, for a home located in the areas I listed or close to them. This home is also available on an assumable mortgage. Value of home is $143,000. That is the rebuild value from the insurance company.
I just wanted to see if anyone is interested in relocating to metro Detroit area????
    Thanks

i’m just going to put out there that the rebuild info from insurance means nothing….you would need an appraisal from a licensed contrator to get the real value. and it will probably be way more that that figure an insurance company will give you.

appraisers take into consideration location, lot size, updates, land usuage, transportation access, and a 100 other things, that is not even considered in an eval from insurance
